Things to think about when considering a pre-boxed security camera system…

Is the resolution high enough for police evidence?   Most off-the-shelf systems are 720 or 1080 and that is considered “high-Definition”, but when you zoom in just by 2x, you just cut that number is half taking the image to VCR quality video. Most of the systems we put in are 4-5 Megapixel and starting to move to 4K. It’s even more important when those “perps” are moving.

Does it come with enough cabling for my house?  Most pre-boxed systems come with rolls of pre-terminated cables, you can’t really cut them and re-splice so you may not have enough for some cameras and way too much for others.  Also because they are pre-terminated you will have to drill very large holes in your house to get them through.

What are you wanting to watch? Do you need a zoom or wide angle? You only get one kind of camera in those boxes, We can use a variety of camera styles like you see below to fit the need for durability and security.

How much storage do you need? Most systems come with a half terabyte or 1 terabyte of storage.  I will tell you that is not enough. Depending on how the recorder is set-up, you many only get a couple of days of recording. More cameras? less time to get back to that footage. ( it always kills me when someone on TV wants to see footage that happened a month ago. )

Want to see it from anywhere on your phone? it’s not as easy as many will lead you to believe. It involves DDNS Servers, Port Forwarding and Router configurations. Things we are very skilled at.
